The Cotswolds’ newest village hall

The Village Hall is available for hire by individuals, groups or business organisations.

Location

Completely rebuilt and fitted out in 2009 on the site of the old village hall, Down Ampney Village Hall is located in the centre of small picturesque Down Ampney. The village is famous as the birthplace of the composer Ralph Vaughan-Williams and the historic WWII airfield where daring missions were launched to Arnhem and D-Day.

The village hall is easily accessible from Cirencester, Fairford or Swindon, along the A417 and A419.

A vibrant part of the village

Residents of Down Ampney and non-residents regularly use the village hall.  The village hall is host to the many active clubs in the village and to annual events such as the Arnhem Reunion, Summer Fête and Christmas Bazaar.

It is an ideal setting for wedding receptions, discos, private parties, dances and is equally suitable as a venue for business training seminars or conferences.

Facilities

The interior layout of the new hall has been improved giving emphasis to a large main hall with sprung hardwood floor and French windows leading out onto a large patio and lawned area (ideal for a marquee).  There is a well equipped servery, separate committee room (Dakota Room) with a fully stocked bar and an additional private meeting room (Wynne Room) on the first floor.

The hall is licensed to hold up to 140 people.

Outside

The hall benefits from a large all weather car park that can accommodate over 60 cars.   To the rear there is a large patio and beyond that a lawned area, which can be used to site a marquee for weddings or serve as a venue for open air events.

Inside

Main Hall:   The hall is light and airy and measures 13.72 m x 9.15 m.  It can be laid out in different ways to suit the hirer’s intended use.  The main hall has portable staging and mood lighting that will add atmosphere to any event.  Seating for 140 people is available.

Servery:  This is a well equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, commercial dishwasher and enough cutlery and crockery to serve 140 people.  There are serving hatches to the main hall and the Dakota Room.

Dakota Room:  Adjoining the main hall, but also accessed from the entrance foyer, this smaller room has a comfortable lounge (8.75 m x 4.56 m) and a fully equipped bar.  The Dakota Room can be hired separately for a variety of functions or meetings.

Wynne Room:  This new room on the first floor can be reached via the main hall or its own separate outside entrance.  This room is equipped with meeting tables and chairs and is ideal for small groups and business meetings.  When laid out Board Meeting style it can accommodate 12 people.

Storage Room:  When not in use the portable stage, all chairs and tables can be stored away on easily manoeuvrable trolleys in this room which is off the main hall.
