The Cotswolds’ newest village hall
The
Village Hall is available for hire by individuals, groups or business
organisations.
Location
Completely
rebuilt and fitted out in 2009 on the site of the old village hall, Down Ampney
Village Hall is located in the centre of small picturesque Down
Ampney. The village is famous as the birthplace of the composer Ralph
Vaughan-Williams and the historic WWII airfield where daring missions were
launched to Arnhem and D-Day.

Residents
of Down Ampney and non-residents regularly use the village hall. The village hall is host to the many active
clubs in the village and to annual events such as the Arnhem Reunion, Summer Fête and Christmas Bazaar.

The
interior layout of the new hall has been improved giving emphasis to a large main
hall with sprung hardwood floor and French windows leading out onto a large
patio and lawned area (ideal for a marquee).
There is a well equipped servery, separate committee room (Dakota Room) with a fully stocked bar and an
additional private meeting room (Wynne Room) on the first floor.
The
hall is licensed to hold up to 140 people.
Outside
The
hall benefits from a large all weather car park that can accommodate over 60
cars. To the rear there is a large patio
and beyond that a lawned area, which can be used to site
a marquee for weddings or serve as a venue for open air events.
Inside
Main Hall: The hall is light and airy and measures 13.72 m
x 9.15 m. It can be laid out in
different ways to suit the hirer’s intended use. The main hall has portable staging and mood
lighting that will add atmosphere to any event.
Seating for 140 people is available.
Servery: This is a well equipped kitchen with electric hob and
oven, microwave, fridge, commercial dishwasher and enough cutlery and crockery
to serve 140 people. There are serving
hatches to the main hall and the Dakota Room.
Dakota Room: Adjoining the main hall, but also accessed from the
entrance foyer, this smaller room has a comfortable lounge (8.75 m x 4.56 m)
and a fully equipped bar. The Dakota
Room can be hired separately for a variety of functions or meetings.
Wynne Room: This new room on the first floor can be reached via the
main hall or its own separate outside entrance.
This room is equipped with meeting tables and chairs and is ideal for
small groups and business meetings. When
laid out Board Meeting style it can accommodate 12 people.
Storage Room: When not in use the portable stage, all chairs and tables
can be stored away on easily manoeuvrable trolleys in this room which is off
the main hall.

Accessibility
The
main access to the hall is via a shallow ramp.
All rooms have a hearing loop fitted.
The hall has toilet facilities for the disabled and baby changing facilities.
There is also a stair-lift to the first floor Wynne Room.
The Environment
The
village hall has been built to current (2008) building regulations ensuring an
efficient, environmentally friendly hall.
Heating to all areas is by modern air source heat recovery.
Communications and conference equipment
Wireless
and conventional broadband internet connection is available in all rooms. Please note that specific terms of use apply.
An
OHP, flip chart and audio visual equipment is available for use in the main
hall, Dakota Room and Wynne Room.
